Kat- Keyboards, vocals
Wayne- Guitar, vocals
This is the Fledglings, an indie pop-rock outfit, consisting of Wayne (guitar and vocals) with Kat (keyboards and vocals) and drum machines. Wayne is from Philadelphia and a former member of the band, “Illinois”. Kat is from Dallas and they met and became a couple in Austin. One day, Wayne came home from work and Kat said to him, “I’ve been listening to your demos and I learned one of your songs”. From that point on, they where a band. In September 2010, they started playing parties and open mics. Then more shows proceeded. They released their demo of “Paternoster (Inhale Balloons)”, on a compilation put out by a Canadian label, Tranquillizer Records. And they are currently working on a five song EP, scheduled to be out by April, 2011. A tour in June to July will follow in support of the EP.
Recently, they picked up a drummer named, Danielle. She steps in when she can and on March 18th, they opened for Doug Gillard (former Guided by Voices member) and the Meat Puppets.
P.S. (Aug. 5th, 2011) The tour went well. They went from Dallas, to Knoxville, to Chapel Hill, then Philly, over to Chicago, Kansas City and then back to Austin. It was exhausting but well worth the effort. Now they hit the studio and are currently working on a new version of “Paternoster (Inhale Balloons)” with Danielle playing drums.
