Sup guys? Here is my review of THQ’s latest entry into every wrestling fan’s favorite wrestling game. Enjoy!
It’s basically your typical fighting game. Only the battles are wrestling matches and you get to play as either your favorite WWE Superstar or Diva, or create your own superstar and take on the WWE Universe!!
WWE 12 was pretty fun. It’s always fun to take control of your favorite Superstar/Diva and throw down in fistacuffs against your least favorite Superstar/Diva. WWE 12 gets the score of a 4 out of 5.
Body of Review:
Here’s where WWE 12 really excelled, the customizable aspects. The THQ WWE games have always been great at letting the player create their own superstar, arena, PPV, move set, entrance, team and logos; but this year they have now given you the ability not only create your own entrance video for your superstar, but also your own storyline as well. Granted the options of templates for the create a storyline and video aren’t that great, it’s still pretty cool none the less at the amount of customizing you can do in it. The create a superstar system was greatly detailed this year as it is every year. If you really wanna take the time to go into great detail with your superstar you can get them to look almost identical to yourself.
Along with the in depth creation modes, WWE 12 features a lot of game modes as well. Of course you’ve got your standard exhibition mode, which features different match types like your regular one on one match, tag matches, triple threat, fatal four way, hell in a cell, cage, ladder, table, TLC(which stands for tables, ladders, and chairs), royal rumble, and the elimination chamber match. And each match can have customizable rules and regulations to make it your own.
Along with the exhibition mode there’s the new WWE Universe mode. Now for anyone who’s played the previous WWE titles will know this as the WWE 24/7 mode. Basically you can either play as a current superstar/diva or enter your own created superstar/diva, choose a brand, and use them to rise to the top at win participate in the main event at Wrestlemania for the WWE Championship.
A new game mode included in WWE 12 is the Road to Wrestlemania mode. This is the story mode portion of the game. The Road to Wrestlemania consists of three different story lines that all mesh together. These story lines are Villain(where you play as the Celtic Warrior Sheamus), Outsider(where you play as The Game Triple H), and then Hero(where you play as the rookie Jacob Cass, who is brought to life by you the player by creating the look of the character or they will use your current create a superstar but I’ll get into that later). Each story line is pretty cool, and flows together well. I do have a couple of complaints about it, but I’ll get into that in a little bit.
What’s really cool about the game would be the amount of unlockable superstars there are. Just some of the superstars and legends that you can unlock in the game are: Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Hawk and Animal, Arn Anderson, and Vader just to name a few. This is a very impressive line up to go along with the current roster of superstars that includes, Randy Orton, Triple H, and the Undertaker. And at the end of January a DLC pack will we released that will include legends such as The Macho Man Randy Savage and the Hardcore Legend Mick Foley. I’m am certainly going to be getting that because I loved Mick Foley back in the day.
Ok, here’s what I didn’t like about the game. The Road to Wrestlemania mode became extremely repetative. Yes, I know, it’s a wrestling game and what you do in a wrestling game is play in wrestling matches. But it was either you had a match in the ring that you have to win, or you took on 3 opponents at the same time in the back stage area. It just got old.
Another problem with Road to Wrestlemania is if you have a created superstar before you start the Hero story line, they will use your created star as Jacob Cass. And you can’t change it back to your character after the story line is over. You will have to start all over again and create a new character, which was very annoying.
Other than that, WWE 12 is a fun game to play. There’s nothing like a wrestling game to settle scores between your friends and WWE 12 is a good way to settle some differences. So good job THQ for keeping up the tradition of making great wrestling games!!
That does it guys! We are at a dry spell right now for new game releases so next month I will be reviewing Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare! Stay tuned!!
Check it out guys. It’s the first trailer for the next installment in Capcom’s flagship horror survival franchise, Resident Evil 6. I don’t know about you, but it’s looks intense. It features a lot of cinematic, story driven scenes along with a little bit of gameplay. Check it out!
Pretty cool huh?As you could see, Resident Evil veterans Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield will be making a return to the series as well as some new characters. It looks like Leon Kennedy will be taking on something similar to another Raccoon City incident like in his Resident Evil 2 debut and Chris Redfield will have something similar to what he was dealing with in Resident Evil 5. And I’m sure somehow there two stories will intertwine. It will be pretty interesting to see what this game will be about. But it’s looking really cool as of right now.
What do you think of the Resident Evil 6 trailer?
Check out this demo of the Wii U’s Panoramic functionality and a Legend of Zelda game and graphic demo. Check it out!!
Well, I don’t know about you, but the Wii U is really starting to impress me. So once again…SUCK IT BREA AND DEANO!!!
Haha! Later guys!
I was just reading some news about the upcoming sequel/reboot Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and I noticed something rather interesting that could suggest that another character will take up the Ghost Rider mantle after this movie.
For those who don’t know, Ghost Rider 2 takes place a few years after the events of the first movie and follow Johnny Blaze(played once again by Nic Cage) as he hides out in Eastern Europe trying to find a way to rid himself of the Ghost Rider curse. He is approached by a monk who intends on “hiring” the Ghost Rider to protect a mother and her son who are being pursued by the Devil, who intends on using the boy as a human vessel. The only reason Blaze accepts is because he is given the impression that his curse could be lifted by helping.
Now here’s the catch. The son’s name is Danny Ketch. For those who don’t know, Dan Ketch is the name of the man who takes over the Ghost Rider mantle from Johnny Blaze in the comics. I didn’t even catch this before. I figured that the mother and son characters were original characters created for the movie( a la Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight). I didn’t even think to look up character names. Knowing that the kid that Blaze is protecting is a major character from the source material could mean that there could be a character change after this movie is over. Let’s face it, Nic Cage is not the youngest guy out there playing super heroes these days. He probably won’t be doing too many of the big time action movies for too much longer( I’m still waiting on National Treasure 3 so I can find out what was on that damn page).
Anyway, to me, even though I like Nic Cage, I think it’s time to move on to another Rider as far as the source material is concerned. And the inclusion of the character of Dan Ketch, even as a child, suggests that a Rider change could happen. I hope that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and the writers have taken the source material into consideration and make that change. But I guess we will have to wait and see on February 17th.
Well, the rumors just keep on flying in the video game world. It is now rumored that several new consoles will be revealed at this years E3. These include: The XBox 720, PS4, and the 3DS Lite.
Now, the 720 and the PS4 have had rumors flying around for the past couple of years, but the 3DS Lite is news to me(there could have been rumors going around and I haven’t been paying attention, so sue me for having a day job).
Anyway, if these new systems are in fact revealed this summer than the next couple of years are gonna be pretty exciting in the gaming world. We know for a fact that the Wii U will be released soon and Sony and Microsoft both have a lot of hype concerning their new consoles, especially with the XBox 720. The newest rumor to surface about the 720 is that it might feature a DVR device. Well, with the new app additions and the eventual semi TV service that will become available through XBox Live, having a DVR system would be a great idea.
But wait, that’s not all!! Along with a rumored DVR the 720 is also rumored to support the also rumored Kinect 2 hardware. Now the Kinect 2′s sensor is rumored to be so advanced that it will even be able to read the users lips. Now if you ask me, that’s pretty fucking scary.
Well, there you have it. Rumors rumors everywhere but not a fact to be found….yet? Next week will be the Consumer Electronics Showcase(or CES) event. Which is where the 720 was rumored to be revealed a couple of months ago if you don’t remember. So maybe there will be some news that could help shed some light on all these rumors running around.
Til next time. Peace!!
