New Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Trailer Gives Us A History Lesson…Again
Hey guys, so we have ourselves a new trailer for next installment of Ubisofts cash cow franchise, Assassn’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Take a look.
Now, an Assassin’s Creed game wouldn’t be what it is without it giving it’s fans a little bit of a history lesson, and Black Flag seems to be no different.
I really like what they did with this trailer by giving the history of piracy, and what had happened to these British privateers that made them revert to becoming ruthless pirates and playing by their own rules.
Since the announcement trailer we knew that Blackbeard would be a major character in the game, but now we know that other notable pirates like Calico Jack and Charles Vane will play a part as well, which is pretty cool. Everybody knows who Blackbeard is, some may not know about any others like that, but that’s what the AC franchise does well with basing their games during real historical events.
What do you guys think about the AC history lesson? Cool? Not Cool?
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Trailer
Well, this past Sunday during the season finale of ABC’s “Once Upon A Time,” we finally got a sneak peek at the upcoming Joss Whedon created series, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” The big buzz about this show is the fact that it takes place after the events of The Avengers, but Agent Coulson is alive, and how they were going to explain him still being alive. Well, the sneak peek didn’t explain anything. Then today, we got a full three minute trailer for the series. It still didn’t explain Coulson being alive, but we DID get an idea as to what the series will be about. Take a look for yourself.
On Monday’s episode, Tim said that he wished that they don’t turn it into a Fringe type show. According to this trailer, it seems that might be the way they are going, but I’m going to be optimistic. I think it’ll be good, it’s Joss Whedon, it’s his usual team, so I’m gonna wait until the first episode to judge.
What do you guys think about the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer? Let us know!
Video Game News!!
Sup guys? Got a few things to talk about today.
First of all. Last week, WB Games and Game Informer Magazine announced the next installment into the Batman: Arkham series: Batman: Arkham Origins. There are a few different things coming with the new title.
First: Rocksteady will not be developing the game. Instead, WB Games’ Montreal studio will be taking the helm on Batman’s next adventure, but they have stated that they will be building the game using the latest version of the Unreal Engine so that the feel of the game will remain the same.
Second: Although the game will take place before the events of Arkham Asylum, and the name, “Origins” would suggest some sort of an origin story for either Batman or Arkham Asylum, it has been stated that the story will involve neither, but I have a couple of theories on this.
So the story of Arkham Origins is that a group of assassin’s have come to Gotham City to take down Batman. As of right now, there are at least three classic Batman villains that will be making appearances in Arkham Origins: Penguin, Black Mask, and Deathstroke.
Ok, here are a couple of theories I have about Arkham Origins.
1. Although they are saying that the title has nothing to do with any type of origin, I think that once Batman defeats all of these assassins, he will need a place to have them incarcerated. Which will call the need for an Asylum of some sorts.
2. After Arkham City, it was said that Mark Hamill is not done playing The Joker. Although there has been nothing said of The Joker making an appearance in Arkham Origins, my theory is that he may have hired these assassins to come to Gotham.
Just my thoughts on it. Anyway, here is the announcement trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins if you haven’t seen it yet.
Next, Nintendo has announced a sequel to the SNES game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, for the 3DS, set to come out this holiday season. This game will take place in the same game world as A Link to the Past, which is the first Zelda Game to do this. The gameplay will be top down view like the SNES game but will also feature some 3D aspects as well. Check out the announcement trailer.
Finally, as a part of Rooster Teeth’s 10 year anniversary, they have announced that they have gone out on their own with their YouTube channels. During the early days of Red vs Blue and Rooster Teeth, they signed on with Machinima.com to distribute their videos on YouTube. Now, the RT crew has cut those ties and are now running their own YouTube channels. As a part of that announcement, Rooster Teeth’s sister site, Achievement Hunter, has started their own channel for their Lets Play videos, and here’s that.
Alright, I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but I hope I made up for it with all of this news! Laters!
Assassin’s Creed News
Hey guys, got some news today concerning Assassin’s Creed.
First of all, some stuff in regards to the upcoming DLC, “The Tyranny of King Washington.”
As you may know, “The Tyranny of King Washington” takes us into an alternate reality in which George Washington, the hero of the American Revolution, has become the evil king of America, and the only one who can stop him is a Mohawk by the name of Ratonhnhake:ton. (I’m just gonna call him Connor).
Here’s the reveal trailer that was released at this past years Video Game Awards.
And this next trailer showcases the new Connor.
By the looks of it, the reality that this story takes place in will portray Connor as if he never interacted with General Washington during the war an played no part in his victory over the British. But we will see. “The Tyranny of King Washington” will be available to download February 19th.
Now, in other Assassin’s Creed news. Ubisoft has stated that the next installment in the franchise is in development and is set to release within the next fiscal year. Along with that, Ubisoft also announced that the new title will feature and new Assassin, a new setting, and a new time period.
On one side, I’m a little bummed that Connor is getting the Altair treatment and getting one exclusive game in the series. But at the same time, I’m excited to see where the franchise is going. Early rumors are that the next installment will take place in ancient China, which will be pretty cool, but we will just have to wait and see.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Laters!

Review: Red vs Blue Season 10/RvB X: Ten Years of Red vs Blue
What’s up guys? As you may remember, we had the pleasure of featuring the always awesome Rooster Teeth Productions from Austin, TX. As you also may know, Rooster Teeth are the guys behind the popular Halo based web series, Red vs Blue. Well, I’ve got for you today, a review of Red vs Blue Season 10, and the 14 disc box set, RvBX, which is the first 10 seasons of Red vs Blue. So here you go!
Red vs Blue Season 10
Red vs Blue Season 10 is the exciting conclusion to the “Freelancer” story that was started in Season 9, and picks up right where Season 9 left off. We find ourselves with the once thought to be dead Agent Carolina(voiced by actress Jenn Brown) along with Agent Washington(voiced by actor and RvB veteran Shannon McCormick) and the other classic Red vs Blue characters breaking the Freelancer AI “Epsilon,” who has taken on the mantle of Church(voiced by Actor and Rooster Teeth Owner Burnie Burns) and are now on a mission to find and kill the Director of Project Freelancer(voiced by actor John Marshall Reed), while at the same time, looking back on the events leading up to the original Blood Gulch Chronicles.
The previews leading up to the beginning of Red vs Blue Season 10 promised that it would be the biggest season ever, and they did not disappoint. The guys certainly pulled out all of the stops with this season. Not only did it feature some of the biggest action scenes choreographed by lead animator Monty Oum, great voice acting by Jenn Brown, Sean Duggan who plays Agent York, along with actors John Erler, Shana Merlin, and Samantha Ireland, but it also features perhaps the most emotional story line I’ve ever seen in a Red vs Blue season. Oh, and one more thing, a special guest voice actor by the name of Elijah Wood who provided the voice of the evil AI Sigma.
Yes, Season 10 is in fact Red vs Blue’s biggest season to date. Like I said, the action scenes motion captured by Monty Oum and animated and rendered by Rooster Teeth’s amazing animation team, led up by Monty, Matt Hullum, and Kathleen Zuelch(who plays Tex), were a visual treat to look at. As I said in our interview with Matt Hullum, I didn’t think the animation scenes could have gotten any better than they did in season 9, but I happily proven wrong in season 10. Looking at the detail in the environments and the characters themselves was like looking at cinematics in an actual Halo game. The scenes and characters looked like something that was rendered by 343 Industries and were an absolute treat to look at.
The action scenes themselves were out of this world this time around. Every season that Monty has been working for Rooster Teeth, which has been since season 8, there has been at least one fight scene in each season that has stood out to be ultimately badass. To me, season 8 was the, “Ice Fight,” between Tex, Wash and the Meta. Season 9 was the Freeway sequence, and to me, the fight on the outside of the enemy fortress was the one that stood out to me in season 10. It also served as Elijah Wood’s introduction into the series. It was a really fun sequence to watch.
And as I said, the story that was written for season 10 was probably the most emotional one there has been. One scene in particular stands out most of all. There’s a scene where Agent Carolina visits the site where Agent York died in the miniseries, “Out of Mind.” In season 9, you could tell that there was possibly something between the two characters, and in season 10, those suspicions were confirmed. That scene in particular was a very key moment not only in season 10, but in the entire series all together. This scene did two things that had never been done in Red vs Blue. First, it incorporated Halo 3 characters onto a Halo 2 map, which was really cool to see. The second, and more important thing, was that they really humanized the character of Carolina. Up to this scene, Carolina was just portrayed as a vengeance fueled killing machine. This scene really showed that there was a person underneath that armor.
There was also a lot of nostalgia incorporated with this season as well. In the machinima scenes, there characters went back to multiple maps that the Blood Gulch gang went to in the previous seasons, like Valhalla, Stand Off, Foundry, and Sand Trap. And what was really cool, is that they recreated certain shots and used the music by Trocadero used in the seasons associated with the maps there are in for the scene.
Season 10 of Red vs Blue had it all: action, comedy, great music by Trocadero and Jeff Williams, an incredible story by Burnie Burns, and phenomenal acting by every voice actor involved. This was the biggest season of RvB ever. And things are only looking more and more exciting for next season, and I know the guys are already hard at work on it. Red vs Blue Season 10 very much gets two thumbs up.
RvBX: Ten Years of Red vs Blue
Along with season 10, we also have the 14 disc box set RvBX: Ten Years of Red vs Blue. This includes all ten seasons of the series, plus the Blood Gulch Chronicles bonus disc, the two Grifball miniseries discs, and a special bonus disc that includes a behind the scenes look at season 10 and a special mini-documentary over Rooster Teeth, which was very nice to see how appreciative the entire RT staff is to their fans.
A few years back, the RT guys remastered seasons 1-4 for HD purposes and released them to the public, but they didn’t do anything with the audio files. This time they went back and remastered the audio tracks for 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, and believe me, you can tell the difference. I went back and watched seasons 1-5 again from the box set and I heard things I had never heard before in Red vs Blue. Pretty cool to have that now.
There’s also an added bonus for those who buy the box set on Blu-Ray. If you are lucky enough to get a specially marked Blu-Ray set, you’ll get a special 15th disc. And on this disc is a special live action episode of Red vs Blue. Yes, you read this correctly, a live action episode of Red vs Blue. They said recently on the Rooster Teeth Podcast that they went to the set of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and tapped a live action episode. Unfortunately, I don’t own a Blu-Ray player so I have not seen this episode yet, and it hasn’t made it’s way online yet. But I can only assume it’s awesome.
The box set itself is quite a sight to see as well. The cover is really cool and the inside features a panoramic portrait of both the Freelancer and Blood Gulch groups with Tex in the middle of them. It also includes a booklet that has the entire Rooster Teeth staff and Red vs Blue cast member’s autographs along with little notes from the founding members of Rooster Teeth thanking their fans for 10 great years of RvB.
The RvBX box set is a great way to commemorate the first ten years of Rooster Teeth and Red vs Blue, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. The box set gets two thumbs up!

Video Game News and an Added Bonus!!
Well guys, we are a week away from Assassin’s Creed 3, and I’m very excited! All of the trailers and behind the scenes videos have been leading up to this, and I’ve got a couple more videos to tide us over until next Tuesday.
First of all, I’ve got a fan film made by a group called Corridor Digital, inspired by the Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer. It’s very well made. Check it out!
The ending was kinda cheesy, I know, but the actor they got to play Connor really got his moves down well.
Next, I’ve got the launch trailer for AC3. Check it!
Next, I’ve got the opening cinematic for the game, which gives us a refresher course of Desmond’s journey for those who haven’t played any of the previous titles. Check it out!
Finally I have a television commercial for the game that features Connor writing the Declaration of Independence while taking down some Red Coats and Templars. Pretty cool stuff. Here it is!
That’s it for Assassin’s Creed. Now we move on to Halo 4! As you know, we are a mere two weeks away from the release of Halo 4! For those who haven’t seen the launch trailer, entitled “Scanned,” or the latest episode of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, check out the blog I posted last Friday!
http://www.oldmanandbittergirl.com/allynn/?p=491
Now, a new trailer has been released for Bioshock: Infinite! Not only does it give a little bit of insight into the story, but we also have a release date! Check it out here!
Very cool. Bioshock has always been a franchise that has intrigued me. And Infinite is looking to be no exception to that. City in the sky? I mean come on!
Lastly, as I said in the title, there’s gonna be an added bonus to this weeks video game news. And it has nothing to do with video games.
Well, the first official trailer for Iron Man 3 has been released!! AND IT’S AWESOME!!!! Check! This! Out!
Awesome! I really can’t wait to see how they are going to bring the Extremis story to life and still make it grounded in reality. Does it seem a little Dark Knight Rises-ish? Yes. But overall, Iron Man 3 looks pretty intense.
Anyway, that’s it for now. Later!
